BUMP – Bump Test Log Book

The personal gas detectors must be regularly visually inspected by their users, the batteries charged and the devices subjected to a simple function test (“bump test”) before use. The bump test verifies that the sensors and alarms are working properly by exposing the gas detector to a specific concentration of gas.

Our form assumes the most common gas concentrations: CH4=50% LEL, O2=18 vol%, H2S=25 ppm and CO=100 ppm

A routine must be established on board with which the crew can meet the requirements of IMO/SOLAS and protect themselves. This should be carried out by the respective user and documented in a special logbook.
